On Friday August 14th our black lab of 10 years was hit by a van and seriously injured...we are extremely grateful to the driver who stopped at Michaels home and explained he had hit a 'dark'dog but could not find him...we were not home at the time but m.eides started to search for riles and found him in the ditch in a lot of pain. Michael&Marti&Marika took rilely to the ER vet and gave endless hours of TLC we recognize how difficult and emotional that was for them-many many thanks.
Riley had a severe broken leg and hip,he also had internal bleeding in the abdomen and a ruptured bladder-poor poor puppy.
As difficult as it was we asked that riley be put to sleep. The flood of emotions for our family was immense. We surprised Kelsea with this little black lab on Christmas 2000, Riley soon became everyones! He was the most sensitive tenderhearted lab Ive ever known. During some dark times for Zac and Bria-when they were suffering the most Riley never left their side-he somehow could be there when no one else could. If I got after Riley he would hide under the kitchen table and put his head under his front paws!! On a rare day if he was left alone in the house after the table was set he would steal a half a sandwhich off each plate and leave the other half for us!!! Riley died on Saturday August 15,2009. John and Zachary built a nice sturdy box for him to be buried in while the girls and i dug his grave. Riley, thank-you! thanks for always always being there for each of us.We will never ever stop missing you.
